Xjismu was built as Malta’s first homegrown social media platform: a place to discuss social issues, give an opinion and push for change. Not a feed for passive scrolling.

How was Xjismu built?
- —Concept and planning: brainstorming and strategy.
- —First version: built in one month.
- —Full launch: the brand, the mobile app and the first users, in two to three months.
- —Tools: WordPress, PHP and API hooks; a native mobile app; Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator.

What did it reach?
- —More than 1,300 registered users.
- —300,000 total reach across platforms.
- —4,100 followers on social media.
- —A place in the top 20 apps in the App Store.

How did it work?
- —Conversations led by users, on national and social issues.
- —A website and a native app.
- —A bold brand that matched the mission.
- —Growth from search and social media.

What was hardest?
Finding users, and keeping them. A new community needs constant momentum. We focused on early adopters to start the conversations, on topics people in Malta were already talking about, and on targeted outreach. It showed that people want places for real discussion.

What did Xjismu teach us?
A brand that means something to its audience is the base for lasting growth. Next time, we would plan for keeping users from the very first day.

Built by our founder as Building Persona, before Pembury & Stone.
