The Monday Number: one page a week

Most owners have never seen one page that shows leads in, replied, booked, won, lost, and why. Here is what is on ours, and what changes once you have it.

Ask a small business owner how sales went last week and you get a feeling. Good, quiet, busy. Ask for the number and there is not one.

The Monday Number is one page, every Monday. It is the only report we send.

What is on it

Leads in, by channel. Phone, WhatsApp, email, web form. How fast we replied, as a median and a worst case. How many were qualified. How many were booked. How many were won. How many were lost.

And for every lost one, the reason in the customer’s own words. ‘Went with someone cheaper.’ ‘Needed it this week.’ ‘Never got back to me’, which should never appear and is the one we watch for.

What changes

Week one, the page is small and you skim it. Week four, you notice that eight of eleven losses say ‘price’, and that all eight were for the same service. That is not a sales problem. That is a pricing decision, and you can make it in an afternoon.

Week eight, you notice that Saturday enquiries book at twice the rate of Tuesday ones, and you open the diary on Saturdays.

None of this needs a dashboard. It needs one page, every week, read for five minutes with a coffee.

Why weekly

Monthly is too late to fix anything. Daily is noise. A week is long enough to see a pattern and short enough to act on it before it costs you the month.
